Pioneer Women End Regular Season With Win Over United Tribes

Four MCC Pioneers scored in double figures and built as much as a 17-point 2nd half lead to end the regular season with a 66-55 win over United Tribes Technical College. 

Matilda Sanz (Freshman - Madrid, Spaind) hit for 19 points (7-18 FG, 3-9 3's, 2-2 FT) and Ebele Mbagwu (Freshman - Bakersfield, CA) had another double double with 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 FT), 18 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kataya Kill Eagle (Sophomore - Dodson, MT) scored 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-4 3's) and Laynee Elness (Freshman - Winifred, MT) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Jai Baumann (Freshman - Big Sandy, MT) added 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

  • The Pioneers shot 25-77 (33%) from the field and 7-26 (27%) from the 3-point line. MCC was 9-18 from the free throw line. 
  • The T-Birds shot 20-57 (35%) from the field and 6-28 (21%) from the 3-point line. UTTC was 9-13 from the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers outrebounded the T-Birds 49-36. MCC had 21 offensive rebounds to 9 for UTTC.
  • UTTC committed 17 turnovers and MCC had 10.

The Pioneers finish the regular season with a 14-16 record and 6-6 in MonDak Conference play. They will host Dawson CC on Sunday, March 1 at 1:00 PM in the MCC Centra in the quarterfinals of the Region XIII Playoffs.
