NDSCS forward Maggie Westing had a day of days on Monday afternoon at the Miles Community College Centra. Westling dominated the inside from start to finish scoring 41 points (18-28 FG, 0-1 3's, 5-8 FT) and grabbing 22 rebounds in a 81-70 victory during MCC's annual elementary school day in Miles City, MT. Westling got huge help from forward Ava Boyes as Boys scored 23 points (7-18 FG, 4-9 3's, 5-6 FT) and grabbed 6 rebounds. 

Only 4 Wildcats scored in the game as Lolo Carlow added 11 points and Ezrah Baker had 6. The Wildcats led for the entirety of the contest except that there was one tie in the game. The Pioneers trailed 37-33 at the half but the Wildcats broke things open in the 3rd quarter as MCC went cold and outscored the Pioneers 27-11.

Matilda Sanz (Freshman - Madrid, Spain) led MCC with 27 points (12-21 FG, 2-7 3's, 1-1 FT) and Ebele Mbagwu (Freshman - Bakersfield, CA) added 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-6 FT), 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Laynee Elness (Freshman - Winifred, MT) had 11 points (3-10 FG, 1-2 3's, 4-6 FT), 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

  • The Pioneers shot 29-73 (40%) from the field and 5-16 (31%) from the 3-point line. MCC was 7-15 from the free throw line. 
  • The Wildcats shot 32-67 (48%) from the field and 6-17 (35%) from 3-point range. NDSCS was 11-18 from the free throw line. 
  • The Wilcats outrebounded the Pioneers 46-33 and had 18 offensive boards. MCC had 14 offensive boards. 
  • The 2 teams combined for 44 turnovers with MCC having 20 of those. 
  • NDSCS committed only 12 fouls to 16 for MCC.

The Pioneers are now 1-3 on MonDak Conference play and 9-13 overall. The Wildcats are 3-1 in conference play and 15-3 overall.
