Pioneers 84... NDSCS Wildcats 79
The MCC Pioneers trailed the NDSCS Wildcats 48-30 at halftime and things were looking very bleak on Sunday afternoon in Wahpeton, ND. A totally different Pioneer team came out of the 2nd half lockeroom and outscored the Wildcats 54-31 over the final 20 minutes to earn a 84-79 win and advance to the Region XIII Semifinals.
Koak Kok (Sophomore - Ulang, South Sudan) registered a double double with 21 points (10-14 FG, 1-3 FT) and 12 rebounds (7 offensive) to lead 4 Pioneers in double figures of the comeback victory. Jace Hill (Freshman - Columbia Falls, MT) added 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-2 FT), 6 assists, and 5 rebounds while Azenio Cossa (Freshman - Maputo, Mozambique) also had a double double with 14 points (5-14 FG, 3-5 3's, 1-5 FT) and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Beauchamp (Freshman - Toledo, OH) came off the bench to score 11 points (3-6 FG, 3-5 3's) and Yohandry Ortiz (Freshman - Naples, FL) added 9 points and 8 rebounds.
NDSCS got 17 points (7-19 FG, 3-13 3's, 0-1 FT) from Mikkel Cintron and 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-1 3's) and 6 rebounds from Johnathan Calmese. Sebastian Mackey added 14 points (5-13 FG, 2-6 3's, 2-2 FT) and Nidas Paulauskas added 11 points (5-14 FG, 1-5 3's).
