Casper Men Shoot the Lights Out of Pioneers

Casper College hit 13-16 from the 3-point line in the 2nd half and scored 77 points to pull away from a 70-69 lead with 15:00 to go for a 139-106 win on Friday night in Coeur d' Alene, ID.

Casper built a 62-50 lead at halftime only to see the Pioneers cut the lead to one point before going on a 3-point shooting barrage enroute to the victory. 

Abdul Bashir (6'7 Sophomore - Omaha, Nebraska) tallied 39 points (12-28 FG, 8-15 3's, 7-8 FT) to lead 6 T-Birds in double figures. Aaron Sievert (6'0 Freshman - Auckland, New Zealand) came off the bench to hit for 22 points (9-15 FG, 4-10 3's, 0-1 FT) and fellow bench player Blake Neverdon (6'5 Sophomore - Baltimore, MD) added 14 points (5-5 FG, 4-4 3's). Ethan Connery (6'4 Sophomore - Akron, OH) scored 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-3 3's, 2-2 FT) to go along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Nate Sasser III (6'6 Sophomore - West Palm Beach, FL) had 15 points (7-11 FG, 0-1 3's, 1-1 FT) and Yel Deeng (6'8 Sophomore - Amarillo, TX) added 11 points (3-5 FG, 2-2 3's, 3-3 FT). 

Yohandry Ortiz (6'5 Freshman - Naples, FL) led 5 Pioneers in double figures with 34 points (10-24 FG, 3-8 3's, 11-12 FT) and Koak Kok (6'7 Sophomore - Ulan, South Sudan) added 16 points (5-13 FG, 0-1 3's, 6-6 FT) and 6 rebounds. Mack Page (6'5 Sophomore - Worland, WY) had 13 points (5-11 FG, 0-1 3's, 3-3 FT) and Azenio Cossa (6'2 Freshman - Maputo, Mozambique) added 11 points (5-12 FG, 0-3 3's, 1-1 FT) to go along with 5 rebounds. Colton Hawkins (6'5 Sophomore - Pueblo, CO) came off the bench to score 11 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3's, 3-3 FT).

  • Miles shot 35-83 (42%) from the field and 8-23 (35%) from the 3-point line. MCC was 28-29 at the free throw line. 
  • Casper outrebounded Miles 32-26. The T-Birds had 11 offensive rebounds and the Pioneers had 10. 
  • MCC had 16 turnovers compared to 10 for CC. 
  • The Pioneers never led in the game. 

Casper moved to 7-2 on the season and the Pioneers fell to 5-4. MCC will play North Idaho College on Saturday afternoon in Coeur d' Alene, ID at 3:00 MST.
