4-Game Road Trip Starts With Loss to Jamestown JV

Pioneers 1... Jamestown JV 3 (19-25, 12-25, 25-23, 11-25)

Five days after a thrilling 5 set victory over Region IX Northwest College, the MCC Pioneer volleyball team hit the road to North Dakota for the 1st match of a 4-game (in 4 days) road trip. The Jamestown University JV squad turned out to be a formidable host and dominated the Pioneers 3-1 on Sunday night.

MCC had a tough time getting their feet under them in the 1st two games as Jamestown dominated early defeating the Pioneers 18-25 in game 1 and 12-25 in game 2. The Pioneers then pushed through to force a game 4 by winning 25-23 but the Jimmies quickly took momentum back and finished off MCC 11-25 in the 4th game.

Offensively, the Pioneers didn't have much success at the net. Zeason Schaffer (Sophomore - Broadus, MT), Angeline Riener (Freshman - Fort Benton, MT), and Kayla Jensen (Freshman - Lewistown, MT) led the Pioneers with 6 kills each. Taiya Guptill (Freshman - Hardin, MT) had 17 assists and Holland Stowe (Sophomore - Buffalo, WY) added 13. Mia Mader (Sophomore - Broadus, MT), Savanah Newsom (Great Falls, MT) and Stowe all had 1 ace.

Defensively, Guptill led MCC with 13 digs and Grace Gackle (Sophomore - Circle, MT) had 6 blocks.

The Pioneers fell to 6-4 on the season and will face Trinity Bible College tonight in Ellendale, ND at 6:00 PM MDT. That match can be seen on the Trinity Bible College YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/@tbclions).
