Pioneers 2... Bismarck State 3 (25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 21-25, 10-15)
MonDak Conference leading Bismarck State rallied back from a 0-2 deficit on Tuesday night to defeat the upset minded Miles CC Pioneers to remain undefeated in MonDak Conference play.
The Pioneers got off to the hot start in game 1 by playing high level volleyball and cruised out to a 22-16 lead before winning 25-23. Game 2 was more of the same as MCC built momentum and dominated game 2 by the score of 25-15. That momentum quickly left the building as the Mystics rallied from an early 5-1 hole to stay in the match with a 18-25 win. Bismarck State led for the entirety of game 4 to force a 5th and deciding game. Bismarck State jumped on top of the Pioneers quickly with a 1-5 lead and cruised to the victory from there.
The Pioneers were led offensively by a season high 51 assists from Bailey Nowicki (Miles City, MT). 21 of those assists went to Zeason Schaffer (Broadus, MT) and 15 to Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT). Lynn also had a team high 4 blocks. MCC had only one ace in the match from Mia Mader (Broadus, MT). Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) had 37 digs from her libero position.
MCC fell to 4th place in the MonDak conference standings at 3-3 and are 7-8 overall. Bismarck State is now 5-0 in league play and 13-1 overall. The Pioneers will jump out of conference for their next 4 matches against Region IX opponents starting Wednesday night as they host Northwest College at 6:00 PM.
