Pioneers Use Come From Behind Tactic to Defeat Lake Region

Pioneers 3... Lake Region State 0 (25-21, 26-24, 28-26)

The MCC Pioneers used the come from behind tactic to rally and win the first 2 games and then nearly blew a late lead in game 3 but the Pioneer prevailed to bounce back from Tuesday night's loss to NDSCS.

The Pioneers got off to a slow start in game 1 and trailed 8-14. They proceeded to tie the game at 16-16 before LRSC scored the next 4 points to take a 16-20 lead. MCC dug deep and scored 9 of the final 10 points to win 25-21. Game 2 was a similar look for the Pioneers as Lake Region jumped in front 5-10 and 6-13. The Pioneers were trailing 17-22 late but then scored 9 of the final 11 points for a 26-24 victory.

MCC led the entirety of game 3 and had game point at 24-20 before LRSC rallied to tie the score 25-25 only to see the Pioneers prevail in the end.

Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) picked up 36 digs on the night and Zeason Schaffer (Broadus, MT) had 3 blocks on defense. Schaffer led MCC in kills with 17 while Tehya Gallegos (Burns, WY) had 42 assists and 3 aces.

MCC is 2-1 in MonDak Conference play and 5-5 overall. They will travel to Williston State next Tuesday for a 6:00 PM MST conference game and then to Dakota College at Bottineau on Wednesday.
