The MCC Pioneer Volleyball team finally came out on the winning end of a 5 game match. A back and forth affair in Bottineau, ND saw the Pioneers dominate game 1 with a 25-18 win. Game 2 looked like a blowout early as the Lumberjacks jumped out to a 14-2 lead only to see the Pioneers storm back before falling 23-25. The Pioneers took the momentum gained from the Game 2 rally to win Game 3 25-18. Bottineau turned the tides in Game 4 with a 18-25 victory setting up the deciding 5th game. The Pioneers were able to hang on to the victory with a 15-12 advantage in the deciding game. Both matches between the Pioneers and Lumberjacks last spring went to 5 games as well. 

The Pioneers moved in to a tie for 3rd place in the MonDak Conference standings with Dawson at 5-4 and bumped their overall record to 12-11. 

The Pioneers were led offensively by Angela Youngs (Gillette, WY) with 19 kills and 4 aces while Cassidy Acor (Havre, MT) added 13 kills. Acor also led the team in blocks with 4. Jacey Rowland (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) had 31 assists, 3 aces and Mandi Tvedt (Glenrock, WY) contributed 24 assists. Sam Oliver (Havre, MT) picked up 21 digs in the back row. Chloe Cota (Roundup, MT) also added 3 aces.

The Pioneers will complete their road trip tonight with an important match at Williston State College. That match will start at 6:00 PM MST.
