Pioneers 3... Lake Region State 1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-19, 29-27)

After playing 8 matches in 6 days on an extended road trip, the MCC Pioneer volleyball team found a way to scrape out a win on the road in Devils Lake, ND to move to 2-0 in MonDak Conference play. Leading hitter Angela Youngs went down with an anke injury but the resilient Pioneers stepped up to take the road win on Wednesday night. Josee Krum (Worden, MT) led the way offensively with 15 kills and Jacey Rowland (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) dished out 31 assists, while Chloe Cota (Roundup, MT) dished out 2 services aces. The Havre High School connection of Cassidy Acor and Samantha Oliver continued to lead the way defensively with 3 blocks and 39 digs respectively. 

The Pioneers evened their record at 7-7 overall but more importantly moved to 2-0 in MonDak Conference play. They will hit the road again Monday night at Bismarck State College before finally playing first home match on September 14 against Dakota College at Bottineau in Miles City, MT.
