The MCC Pioneers split matches on day 2 of the Big Sky Volleyball Classic in Butte, MT. The Pioneers lost 1-3 to the Rocky Mountain College JV and then defeated the Dickinson State JV 3-0 to end their opening weekend of play at 2-3. 

Pioneers 1... Rocky Mountain JV 3 (25-18, 21-25, 23-25, 19-25)

The Pioneers came out smoking in game 1 but whithered away late as the Rocky Mountain JV defeated MCC 3-1 on Saturday morning in Butte, MT. Olivia Easton (Billings, MT) had a strong showing in here return from a broken arm that ended last season prematurely with 10 kills. Jacey Rowland (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) had 24 assists and 1 serving ace to help lead the offensive side of things. Sam Oliver (Havre, MT) had 20 digs and softball player turned volleyball player Olivia Cook (Belgrade, MT) had 4 blocks to lead the Pioneers defensively. 

Pioneers 3... Dickinson State JV 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-14)

The Pioneers ended a 3 match losing streak with a resounding win over the Dickinson State JV. Olivia Cook led the team in kills with 9 while Jacey Rowland had 18 assists. Chloe Cota (Roundup, MT) had 2 aces for the Pioneers offensive efforts. Sam Oliver had 13 digs and Cassidy Acor (Havre, MT) had 2 blocks. 

The Pioneers will travel to Billings on Tuesday to face the Rocky Mountain JV again.
