Pioneers Snap 6-Game Skid With Wire to Wire Win Over Williston State

Azenio Cossa (6'3 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) poured in 28 points (10-17 FG, 0-2 3's, 8-11 FT), grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 5 steals as the MCC Pioneers snapped a 6-game losing streak with a wire to wire 81-64 win at Williston State on Monday night. The Pioneers never trailed in the game and led by as many as 21 points midway thru the 2nd half. The Pioneers had lost 3 close games after Christmas after struggling at the free throw line to capitalize on 2 double digit leads in Arizona and then a close loss to Dawson on Thursday night. 

The Pioneer defense showed some metal as they held the Tetons to just 31% from the field and 3 other Pioneers hit for double figures. The Pioneer frontline pair of Shad Boyce (6'8 Freshman - Winifred, MT) and Uwami Chongo (6'8 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) combined for 28 points and 19 rebounds. Boyce accounted for 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots while Chongo had 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-2 3's) and 5 rebounds. Guard Jace Hill (6'1 Sophomore - Columbia Falls, MT) also had a double double with 11 points (2-7 FG, 2-5 3's, 5-6 FT) and 10 rebounds.
