Pioneers 87... Eastern Wyoming 86

The MCC Pioneers got the game winning field goal with 1.1 seconds remaining from Azenio Cossa (6'3 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) after nearly squandering a 12-point lead with 10:00 remaining to defeat Eastern Wyoming College 87-86 Friday afternoon in Gillette, WY. The victory for the Pioneers evens up the season series with the Lancers after EWC defeated Miles in Miles City, MT on Nov. 6. 

Cossa scored 29 points (10-23 FG, 2-6 3's, 7-12 FT) and had 6 steals to lead the way for MCC. Uwami Chongo (6'8 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) added 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-5 3's, 2-5 FT) and a game high 16 rebounds. 

The Pioneers built a 64-52 lead with 10:32 seconds remaing and then the Lancers made a charge connecting on 4 of their 5 4-point field goals coming in the final 10 minutes. Lorenzo Major Jr. hit a driving layup with 6.1 seconds left to give the Lancers their first lead of the 2nd half.

Shad Boyce (6'8 Freshman - Winifred, MT) had 14 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-4 FT) and 5 rebounds while Donnie Haney (6'2 Sophomore - Baton Rouge, LA) added 12 points (2-8 FG, 2-6 3's, 6-6 FT) and Jace Hill (6'1 Sophomore - Columbia Falls, MT) had a team high 6 assists.
