Pioneers 91... Williston State 99
The MCC Pioneers continue to come up short in close game situations. Williston State shot 57% in the 2nd half including 5-9 from 3-point range to rally from a 50-44 halftime deficit to take a 99-91 decision on Sunday afternoon in Miles City, MT.
In a game that went back and forth with 9 lead changes, the Pioneers led 86-85 with 3:50 seconds remaining. Williston then got a jumper from Rex Stirling (Sophomore - Melbourne, Australia) and followed that up with a 3-pointer off of a Teton steal that gave Williston State a 90-86 lead that they would not relinquish. Stirling hit 2 3's in the game after having only 3 3's for the entire season.
Stirling led the way for the Tetons with 18 points (6-15 FG, 2-2 3's, 4-4 FT) and 8 rebounds. Josiah McDonald (Freshman - San Antonio, TX) added 17 points (7-12 FG, 1-3 3's, 2-3 FT) and Benjamin Yombi (Sophomore - Stockholm, Sweden) came off the bench to score 15 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 3's, 4-4 FT) to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Eden Hobbs (Freshman - Melbourne, Australia) joined Yombi off the bench with 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3's). Mekhi Marks (Sophomore - Omaha, NE) had 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3's)
Mack Page (Sophomore - Worland, WY) led 4 Pioneers in double figures with 32 points (12-16 FG, 0-2 3's, 8-9 FT) and 4 blocked shots. Yohandry Ortiz (Freshman - Naples, FL) added 19 points (8-17 FG,, 1-6 3's, 2-2 FT) and Isaiah Beauchamp (Freshman - Toledo, OH) chipped in 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3's, 2-2 FT) and 6 rebounds. Jace Hill (Freshman - Columbia Falls, MT) scored 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3's) to go along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds.
