Pioneer Men Drop 4th Straight on Trip to Bismarck

The MCC Pioneer men hit the road to Bismarck, ND and dropped their 4th straight game of 2025 after getting swept at Bismarck State and United Tribes. 

Pioneers 76... Bismarck State 92

William Ware (6'7 Sophomore - Bismarck, ND) poured in 25 points (9-18 FG, 5-10 3's, 2-2 FT) and grabbed 6 rebounds as 4 Mystics hit in double figures and pulled away from a tight 58-55 contest for a 92-76 MonDak Conference win Sunday afternoon in Bismarck, ND. Avery Wesley (6'0 Freshman - Pittsburg, PA) added 18 points (7-11 FG, 3-6 3's, 1-1 FT) and the Mystics got 10 points off the bench from Evan Tatum (6'5 Freshman - Las Vegas, NV) and Sharief Parks (Queens, NY). Parks also led the Mystics in rebounds with 9. 

MCC also had 4 players score in double figures but struggled shooting in the 2nd half by only hitting 14-39 (36%). Mack Page (6'5 Sophomore - Worland, WY) had 19 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 3's, 4-6 FT) and 8 rebounds while Colton Hawkins (6'5 Sophomore - Pueblo, CO) hit for 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-5 3's) and 4 rebounds. Koak Kok (6'7 Sophomore - Ulan, South Sudan) scored 12 points (5-12 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-2 FT) and 8 rebounds and Donnie Haney (6'1 Freshman - Baton Rouge, LA) had 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-8 3's). 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Pioneers shot 30-67 (45%) from the field and 8-27 from the 3-point line. MCC was 8-12 at the free throw line. 
  • The Mystics shot 38-73 (52%) from the field and 11-25 from the 3-point line. BSC was 5-9 from the free throw line. 
  • The Mystics outrebounded the Pioneers 39-32. BSC had 12 offensive rebounds and MCC had 11. 
  • MCC committed 18 turnovers and BSC had 12. 

Bismarck State is 7-11 overall and 1-2 in conference play. 

 

Pioneers 91... United Tribes 101

Houston Davis (6'5 Sophomore - Belcourt, ND) scored 26 points (10-24 FG, 1-5 3's, 5-7 FT) and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Thunderbirds pull away late in a back and forth contest for a 101-91 MonDak Conference win Monday night in Bismarck, ND. Five Thunderbirds scored in double figures as Mark Fassett (6'0 Sophomore - St. Michael, ND) hit for 17 points (4-9 FG, 3-6 3's, 6-6 FT) and had 7 assists in the victory. 

Drew Bordeaux (6'0 Sophomore - Rosebud, SD) came off the bench to score 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3's, 2-2 FT) including 2 huge baskets late in the game. Dalen Leftbear (6'3 Freshman - Tokio, ND) had 13 points (5-12 FG, 1-3 3's, 2-2 FT) and Jacolby Pearson (6'3 Sophomore (Fort Totten, ND) added 10 points (4-15 FG, 2-9 3's).

The Pioneers had 4 players score in double figures led by Jace Hill (6'1 Freshman - Columbia Falls, MT) and Koak Kok with 23 points. Hill (7-11 FG, 3-6 3's, 6-6 FT) also had 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the loss. Kok (10-17 FG, 0-1 3's, 3-4 FT) also included 6 rebounds. Mack Page had 22 points (8-18 FG, 0-3 3's, 6-9 FT) with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Isaiah Beauchamp (5'8 Freshman - Toledo, OH) had 13 points (6-16 FG, 0-5 3's, 1-2 FT) to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. 

Colton Hawkins led MCC with 8 rebounds and Nathan Lubamba (6'5 Sophomore, Kinshasa, Congo) added 7 rebounds. 

Inside the Box Score

  • There were 16 ties and 14 lead changes in the contest.
  • The Pioneers shot 35-83 (42%) from the field and 4-28 (14%) from 3-point range. MCC was 17-24 from the free throw line. 
  • The T-Birds shot 36-91 (40%) from the field and 11-38 (29%) from 3-point range. UTTC was 18-21 at the free throw line. 
  • UTTC had a 54-53 advantage in rebounding. The T-Birds had 22 offensive rebound and the Pioneers had 19.

United Tribes is 2-1 in MonDak Conference play and 7-10 overall. The Pioneers fell to 1-3 in league play and 9-11 overall. The next contest for MCC is hosting Dawson CC on Monday, January 20 at 7:30 PM MST.
