The MCC Pioneer Men's Basketball team took out some frustration from Friday night's loss to Central Wyoming with a resounding 102-64 win over the Jamestown JV. The Pioneer offense was clicking on all cylinders in the first half as they connected on 23-28 FG (61%) and 5-9 (56%) from 3-point range building a 54-26 lead at the break. The Pioneers lead swelled to as many as 48 in the 2nd half before Jamestown made a small charge late that cut the Pioneer lead by 10.
The Pioneers had 6 players scored in double figures and had 22 assist on 42 baskets in the game. Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, NV) had 25 points (12-17 FG, 0-2 3's, 1-1 FT), 6 rebounds, and 4 steals to lead the way. Blessing Adesipe (Houston, TX) had 18 points (7-12 FG, 4-5 3's) to go along with 6 rebounds. Paul Gakmar (Perth, Australia) added 15 points (5-9 FG, 1-1 3's, 4-4 FT) and a team high 7 rebounds. Zack Baker (Frenchtown, MT) had 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-4 FT) and 5 rebounds off the bench. Denzel Kabasele (Lancaster, PA) added 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3's) while Ethan Bell (Chinook, MT) added 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-2 3's).
Eli Habighorst (Las Vegas, NV) had 8 assists and the Pioneers committed only 10 turnovers compared to 22 for the Jimmies. MCC outrebounded Jamestown 41-37 and forced 22 Jimmie turnovers. The Pioneers shot 42-77 (55%) from the field, 9-20 (45%) on 3's, and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.
The Pioneers (2-5 MonDak Conference, 4-7 overall) next game is a non-conference matchup against Region IX powerhouse Casper College in Gillette, WY on Friday at 12:00 MST.
