The NDSCS Wildcats took a 14 point lead with just over 3 minutes to go before watching the MCC Pioneers feverish rally just fall short as the Wildcats held on for an 86-85 win in Miles City, MT. The Pioneers cut double digit leads to one point 2 different times in the 2nd half but could not find a way to get over the hump.
The Pioneers landed 4 players in double figures on the night but committed 19 turnovers and could only hit 20-31 from the FT line. Sophomores Jakim Ricketts (6'1 Guard, Livingston, MT) and Dylan Hushaw (6'1 Guard, Las Vegas) each scored 18 points on the night. Hushaw (6-10 FG, 4-7 3's, 2-2 FT) also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Ricketts (6-10 3's) was followed in scoring by another couple of Las Vegas natives Favour Chukwukelu (6'2 Sophomore) and Eli Habighorst (6'0 Freshman) with 17 points. Chukwukelu (6-13 FG, 1-4 3's, 4-5 FT's) also 9 rebounds and had 2 assists and 2 steals while Habighorst (4-10 FG, 0-2 3's, 9-12 FT) dished out 6 assists.
The Wildcats were led by off the bench standouts RaShaun Parker (6'1 Guard) with 19 points (5-8 FG, 4-7 3's, 5-8 FT) and Anthony Ignowski (8-14 FG, 3-4 3's) with 19 as well. Elijah Lambert (6'5 Forward) scored 14 points (4-6 FG, 6-12 FT) and grabbed 10 rebounds. Ty Horner (6'9 Forward) chipped in 10 points (5-13 FG, 0-4 3's) and 9 rebounds for the game. NDSCS outrebounded the Pioneers 44-38 on night and had 15 turnovers compared to 19 for MCC. The Teams will battle tomorrow at 7:30 PM MST.
