Ricketts Hot Hand Helps Pioneers to 4th Consecutive Win

Jakim Ricketts (6'1 Sophomore, Livingston, MT) knocked down 6-8 3-point field goals enroute to 20 points (7-10 FG) and 3 assists to help the Pioneers to a 71-60 home win over Lake Region State College. The win was the Pioneers 4th consecutive victory and 7th in last 8 games. Fellow Sophomore guard Dylan Hushaw (6'1, Las Vegas) chipped in 17 points (5-13 FG, 4-11 3's, 3-4 FT) to go along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Sophomore forward Remy Lemovou (6'8, Wichita, KS) scored 10 points (5-6 FG) grabbed 6 rebounds, and had 5 blocks spearheading the Pioneer defensive efforts. Favour Chukwukelu (6'2 Guard, Las Vegas) had a tough night shooting but also scored in double figures with 11 points (5-16 FG, 1-11 3's) and had 5 assists and 5 rebounds. 

The Pioneers led by as many as 18 points in the first half (39-21) before the Royals rallied in the 2nd half behind the hot shooting of Carson Henningsgard who hit 3 consecutive 3-pointers as the Royals cut the Pioneer lead to 4 points. Henningsgard finished with 16 points (5-15 FG, 4-10 3's, 2-5 FT) to go along with 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Beijan Newbern was the only other Royal in double figures with 11 points (5-14 FG, 0-5 3's, 1-2 FT) and 6 rebounds. The Pioneers shot 45% (25-55) from the field and 36% from 3-point line (12-33). The Royals were held to 35% FG (23-65) and 30% 3's (7-23). MCC moved to 7-5 in MonDak Conference play and 8-5 overall while the Royals slipped to 6-5 in league play and 7-5 overall. 

The Pioneers will host the NDSCS Wildcats on Wednesday and Thursday night at the MCC Centra. Both games will tip off at 7:30 PM MST.
