Poor Shooting Haunts Pioneers in Loss to Dawson

Poor Shooting Haunts Pioneers in Loss to Dawson

Miles Community College found that getting the ball in the hoop was going to be a struggle of epic proportions on Thursday night in Glendive as the Pioneers shot 20% (7-35) in the first half and only 1-16 from 2-point range and could never get on track in a 76-63 loss to the unbeaten Buccaneers.

Dawson had 11 players score in a balanced effort led by Reggie Martin (6'3 Freshman Guard) with 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3's), Charles Lampton (6'11 Sophomore Center) had 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 FT), 7 rebounds, and 7 blocks on the night. Kennedy Brown (6'8 Freshman Forward) had 10 points on 5-6 shooting. Dawson outrebounded the Pioneers 53-36 and took advantage of the Pioneers shooting woes.

The Pioneers trailed 45-22 at halftime and cut the Bucs lead to 10 in the second half with chances to get closer but could not get the big shot to do so. Sophomore Dylan Hushaw (Las Vegas) led the Pioneers in scoring with 22 points (7-18 FG, 6-13 3's, 2-4 FT). Favour Chukwukelu (6'2 Sophomore Guard, Las Vegas) had 18 points (5-13 FG, 4-11 3's, 4-4 FT), 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Remy Lemovou (6'8 Forward, Wichita, Kansas) added 10 points (5-13 FG), 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks on the night for the 4-5 Pioneers. The loss snapped a 3-game losing streak for MCC.

Next up is the only non-conference game in the shortened season against Rocky Mountain College JV on Saturday at 12:00 PM MST.
