The MCC Pioneers shot a woeful 5-26 FG in the first half a mustered up a measly 15 points in the first half before mounting a comeback in the second half that eventually fell short as Lake Region State battled its way to a 66-55 win over the Pioneers in Devil's Lake.
The Pioneers just couldn't get on track offensively in first half as they connected on only 2-13 from the 2-point range and kept it close with solid defense but went in to the half trailing 30-15. MCC cut the deficit to 46-40 in the second half but some timely buckets by the Royals staved off the rally. The Pioneers were out rebounded 42-29 on the night and each team committed 15 turnovers.
The Royals had 3 players in double figures led by Trace Evans (6'7 Forward, Sydney, Australia) with 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-4 FT) and 11 rebounds. The Pioneers fell to 1-4 on the season and were led by Dylan Hushaw (6'2 Guard, Las Vegas, NV) with 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-9 3's). Eli Habighorst (6'0 Guard, Las Vegas, NV) led the Pioneers with 7 rebounds. Next up for MCC is a road tilt in Williston, ND on Thursday night.
