(Miles City, MT) Four Pioneers scored in double figures on Sunday afternoon, as the Wildcats of NDSCS traveled to Miles City to face the Pioneers. Both teams started the game well, and it was back and forth throughout most of the first half. However, with 6 minutes to play, NDSCS hit a three to go up by five and they wouldn't look back. The Pioneers trailed at the half, 30-47. The Pioneers were able to mount a small comeback effort in the second half, coming within eight, but they were unable to get any closer. The Wildcats extended their lead in the last few minutes of the game, and the Pioneers would lose this one, 70-95. The Wildcats shot 53.7% compared to the Pioneer's 37.9% and the Pioneers were out-rebounded, 44-27.
Akeemis Williams was the high scorer for the Pioneers with 18, followed by DA Wyche with 17, Gedeon Buzangu with 14, and Issac Abergut with 10. Abergut led the team in rebounding, with nine. Buzangu pulled down seven boards. Wyche and Buzangu each had three assists to lead the team.
The Pioneers will travel to Bottineau, ND to face the Jacks of Dakota College on Wednesday, February 13 at 6:30 pm Mountain time.
