DCB Lumberjacks Pressure Forces 35 Turnovers in Pioneer Loss

The Dakota College of Bottin85-eau Lumberjack defense forced 35 Pioneer turnovers and used a 27-8 scoring burst in the 2nd quarter to pull away from what was a close game as the Jacks secured a 85-59 win on day 2 of the MonDak Conference preseason basketball tournament. 

DCB led 42-26 at the half and built that lead up to as many as 32 points in the 2nd half. Terayna Tapija-Jones led DCB with a monster 35 point (12-24 FG, 3-6 3's, 8-13 FT) and 12 rebounds. Amari Butler added 22 points (9-20 FG, 1-7 3's, 3-7 FT) as the Jacks picked up their first win of the season. 

The Pioneers were led by Skyler Neumann (Fallon, MT) with 17 points (7-19 FG, 3-9 3's) and 6 rebounds. Lainey Smith (Miles City, MT) joined Neumann in double figures with 11 points (4-12 FG, 3-7 3's, 0-4 FT) and 6 rebounds. Jessica Makayabo (Eastlake, TX) led the Pioneers with 9 rebounds. 

The Pioneers will face United Tribes Technical College on Sunday at 11:00 AM MDT in Parshall, ND.
