Pioneers 2... Williston State 6
If hits were the name of the game, the MCC Pioneers would be playing in the Region XIII Championship. The Pioneers outhit the Williston State Tetons 10-4 but scoring is the name of the game and the Tetons defeated the MCC Pioneers 6-2 to end the Pioneer season.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Karter Scott (1B - Regina, Saskatchewan) singled and Anthony Williams (C - Billings, MT) doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Chase Carnahan (2B - Fallon, NV) grounded out but Scott scored.
Williston State quickly grabbed the lead in the bottom of the 2nd on the strength of a 2-run home run. The game turned for the worse in the bottom of the 4th for MCC. Williston State took advantage of 3 walks and 2 hit batsmen to score 3 runs for a 5-1 lead.
The Tetons would add another run in the 5th inning and would hold off all Pioneer chances for rallies until the 8th inning when MCC scored one run. Raymond Shawver (RF - Miles City, MT) singled and Cooper Wilson (DH - Sydney, Australia) doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Shawver scored on a passed ball.
The Pioneers left 11 runners on base for the game and didn't take advantage of their 10 base hits.
