Game 1 - Pioneers 2... Williston State 9

Williston State pitchers held the Pioneer bats scoreless until the final inning and jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead after 2 innings as the Tetons snapped the Pioneer's 8-game win streak with a 9-2 victory on Tuesday in Tucson, AZ. 

The Pioneers were only able to get 4 hits and got a 2-run home run from Bryson Herion (PH - Kalispell, MT) in the top of the 7th to avoid a shutout. 

The Tetons scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st and 3 more in the 2nd to build a quick lead. They finished their scoring with 2 runs in the 4th. 

Liam Sullivan (CF - Great Falls, MT), Dane Gilbert (1B - Monument, CO), and Holden Christensen (C - Casper, WY) had the other base hits for MCC. 

Croyden Christensen (Kaysville, UT) got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 2 innings (5 H, 7 R, 3 BB, SO). Owen Lucas (Regina, Saskatechewan) pitched the next 1.1 innings (2 H, 2 R) and gave the ball to Raymond Shawver (Miles City, MT) for 0.2 innings (BB). Eli Kelley (Rapid City, SD) finished the final 2 innings (H, 2 BB, SO).

Game 2 - Pioneers 16... Central Lakes-Brainerd 4 (5 innings)

The MCC Pioneers got back on track quickly against Central Lakes-Brainerd by piling up 16 runs in just 4 innings to end their spring break trip to Tucson with a 16-4 victory. 

Ethan Forrest (LF - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) went 2-3 with a home run and 5 RBI and Karter Scott (DH - Regina, Saskatchewan) was 3-3 with a home run, 3 RBI, and 3 run scored as the Saskatchewan connection had 5 of the Pioneers 8 hits in the game. Scott also had a double. 

MCC got a run in the 1st inning, 7 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, and 7 more in the 4th inning. 

Ethan Evans (Sheridan, WY) got the start and pitched 2 innings (H, 4 BB, 3 SO). Logan Bertagnolli (West Jordan, UT) pitched the 3rd inning (2 H, 2 R, BB, SO) and Kellan Henry (Mohall, ND) had the 4th inning (H, 2 R, 3 BB). Chaise Tracy (Billings, MT) finished the final inning with 2 strikeouts.

  • Neither team committed an error.
  • Pioneer batters did not strike out and walked 8 times. They were hit by pitch once.
