Game 1 - Pioneers 8... Riverland 1

The Pioneers got off to a great start on Saturday in Tucson, AZ. Chance Descalchuk (DH - Regina, Saskatchewan) started the scoring with a sacrifice fly RBI and Dane Gilbert (1B - Monument, CO) followed with a 2-run home run and MCC was off to the races in game 1 over Riverland CC. 

Riverland scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning and but the Pioneers answered with another run in the 3rd after an Ethan Forrest (LF - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) singled, stole 2nd, and scord on a RBI single from Anthony Williams (C - Billings, MT). MCC extended their lead to 6-1 with 2 runs in the 5th inning. With 2 outs, Williams was hit by a pitch and was driven in by a RBI double from Luke Thorne (SS - Missoula, MT). Thorne was driven in by a double from Chaise Tracy (3Bs in - Billings, MT). 

The Pioneers tacked their final 2 runs in the 6th inning with a Liam Sullivan (CF - Great Falls, MT) single and Descalchuk home run. 

Sullivan and Gilbert each had 2 hits for MCC.

AJ Truman (Eureka, MT) got the start and pitched 5 innings (4 H, R, BB, 5 SO). Ethan Evans (Sheridan, WY) pitched the 6th inning (H, BB, 2 SO) and Eli Kelley (Rapid City, SD) took the 7th inning and struck out 1.

Game 2 - Pioneers 8... Riverland CC 7

Chase Carnahan (2B - Fallon, NV) drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 7th inning to propel the Pioneers to a 8-7 win and sweep the doubleheader with Riverland CC on Saturday in Tucson, AZ. 

MCC got a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and Riverland rallied with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The Pioneers took a big lead in the bottom of the 2nd with 5 runs to lead 6-2. Luke Thorne scored on a Riverland error after stealing 3rd base. Chaise Tracy scored on a RBI single from Raymond Shawver (LF - Miles City, MT). Cooper Wilson (RF - Sidney, Australia) drove Shawver in with a RBI double. Wilson scored on a Liam Sullivan single and Riverland error. Sullivan scored on on a ground out and the Pioneers led 6-2. 

Riverland tied the game in the 4th with 4 runs but MCC got the lead back with a run in the bottom of the 4th on a RBI single from Descalchuck. Riverland tied the game in the 5th before MCC won the game in the 7th.

Descalchuk accounted for 3 hits while Wilson and Tracy each had 2 hits. 

Dominic Johnatakis (Syracuse, UT) got the start and pitched 3 innings (5 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 4 SO). Logan Bertagnolli (West Jordan, UT) pitched the 4th inning (4 h, 4 R, 2 SO) and Owen Lucas (Regina, Saskatchewan) pitched 1.2 innings (3 H, R, BB, 2 SO). Pierce Hollowell (Miles City, MT) picked up the win pitching 1.1 innings (H, 2 BB, SO).
