Game 1 - Pioneers 13... Rainy River 3
The MCC Pioneers piled on 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning and then added 5 more in the 3rd inning to dominate Rainy River CC 13-3 in game 1 on Friday in Tucson, Arizona. MCC had 10 hits (3B, 2B) and took advantage of 8 walks and 3 Rainy River errors to blowout their Minnesota competition.
The Pioneers got a RBI single to kick off their scoring from Chance Desculchuk (DH - Regina, Saskatchewan), scored 2 more runs on a Rainy River error, and then a RBI double from Anthony Williams (C - Billings, MT) to top off the 1st inning. Rainy River put up a run in the bottom of the 1st.
MCC blew the game up in the 3rd inning with 5 runs. The Pioneers used a combination of hits, walks, and Rainy River errors to accumulate a 9-1 lead. A RBI single from Luke Thorne (SS - Missoula, MT) gave MCC a 10-1 in the 4th inning and got 2 more runs in the 5th highlighted by a RBI triple from Dane Gilbert (1B - Monument, CO).
The final Pioneer run was off an RBI single from Chase Carnahan (2B - Fallon, NV).
Tanner Hagar (Casper, WY) got the start on the mound and pitched 3 innings (3 H, R, 2 BB, 5 SO). Owen Lucas (Regina, Saskatchewan) pitched 2 innings (2 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) and Kellen Henry (Mohall, ND) had a perfect 6th inning (SO).

The MCC Pioneers kept trucking from game 1 and once again dominated Minnesota North - Rainy River by scoring 18 runs in just 4 innings of batting.
Brysen Herion (1B- Kalispell, MT) connected on an inside the park grand slam home run as 6 differnent Pioneers scored 2 or more times in the contest. MCC scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and followed that up with 2 in the 2nd, 7 in the 3rd, and 4 more in the 4th inning. Every starter had at least one hit.
Chase Carnahan and Chaise Tracy (3B - Billings, MT) each had 2 hits. Tracey accounted for the Pioneers only double of the game while Carnahan and Logan Bertagnolli each had a triple to go along with the Herion home run.
Lee Neugebauer (Rapid City, SD) got the start for MCC and pitched 4 innings and had his 2nd spectacular of the season. After striking out 16 batters in Colorado, Neugebauer allowed just 1 hit and struck out 9 while walking only 1. Keenan Kraft (Belgrade, MT) pitched the 5th inning, giving up 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 2.
