Game 1 - Pioneers 0... Cal Miramar 5
Less than 16 hours after scoring 20 runs and picking up 2 wins over Cal Miramar on Monday, the MCC Pioneer bats went cold and Cal Miramar was able to shut out MCC 5-0 in game one on Tuesday afternoon in Tucson, AZ.
MCC was only able to pick up 3 hits in the game and Liam Sullivan (LF - Great Falls, MT) had 2 of those hits including a double. Cooper Wilson (CF - Sydney, Australia) had the other hit for the Pioneers.
Miramar picked up one run in the bottom of the 3rd and then created separation from the Pioneers with 4 runs in the 5th inning.
AJ Truman (Eureka, MT) got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 3 innings (4 H, R, BB) and Eli Kelley (Rapid City, SD) took the next 1.2 innings (H, 3 R, 0 ER, 3 SO). Four MCC Pioneer pitchers combined on a one hitter and the Pioneers got all the runs they needed with 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning to defeat GA JV 3-0 in game 2 on Tuesday in Tucson.
Dominic Johnatakis (Syracuse, UT) got the start on the mound and pitched 3 innings (0 H, 3 BB, 6 SO) and gave the ball to Ethan Evans (Sheridan, WY) for the next 2 innings (0 R, BB, 4 SO). Owen Lucas got the next inning (H, BB, 3 SO) and Piece Hollowell (Miles City, MT) finished things off with a perfect final inning that included 2 strikeouts.
MCC got 2 runs in the 1st inning after a couple of base hits and a GA error. Their final run came in the top of the 5th on a sacrifice fly from Ethan Forrest (LF - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan).
