Miles Community College Athletic Director Jerry Olson has announced the hiring of former MCC Pioneer infielder Cameron Guevara as the next head coach of the MCC baseball program.
Guevara takes over for Mike O'Connell who resigned the position in December for other professional opportunities. Olson said: "We are excited to welcome Cameron Guevara back to MCC as our Head Baseball Coach. Coach Guevara has been apart of our program as a player and has been involved in numerous programs as an assistant. He was part of one of the best teams at MCC and he knows what it takes to be successful at this level."
A native of West Valley City, Utah and graduate of Granger High School, Guevara enrolled at Miles Community College in the fall of 2013. He graduated with an A.A and A.S and transferred to Mount Marty College College in Yankton, South Dakota. He earned an Exercise Science degree in 2019 and then a Masters Athletic Educational Leadership degree from Dickinson State University in 2022.
He served as an assistant coach at Mount Marty (2018-19) where he was an infield and hitting coach. He then moved to Dickinson State University (2019-2023) and was a hitting and infield coach as a graduate assistant and the as a pitching coach after that. From 2023-2025, Guevara served as an assistant coach at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the pitching coach at Clarke and most recently moved into a role as assistant coach at the University of Mary in fall of 2025.
Guevara also gained experience as a coach in a semi-pro league in North Dakota. He coached the Badlands Big Sticks (2022-2023) and Bismarck Larks (2025).
