Game 1 - Pioneers 7... Bismarck State 3
Lance Bratlien (CF - Helena, MT) smacked 2 home runs and the Pioneers used a 6-run 2nd inning to defeat Bismarck State in game 1 on Sunday 7-3 in Bismarck, ND. The Pioneers had defeated the Mystics twice on Saturday in Miles City and did so without hitting a home run and only having one extra base hit. Bratlien connected on a 3-run home run in the 2nd inning and then upped his MonDak Conference home run total to 17 with a solo shot in the 4th inning.
The Mystics got on the board 1st with a run in the bottom of the 1st. The Pioneers quickly responded as Luke Wilson (RF - Calgary, Alberta) led the 2nd inning off with a walk and then with one out, Davis Mosier (DH - Billings, MT) and Cooper Morlang (2B - Rapid City, SD) both singled to load the bases. Bohden Bahnmiller (3B - Helena, MT) drove in the Pioneers 1st run of the game with a single and then Chandler Smith (C - Miles City, MT) grounded out but Mosier scored. Morlang scored 3rd strike wild pitch and that led to Bratlien's 3-run homer.
Bratlien had 4 RBI in the game as Wilson and Bahnmiller joined Bratlien as Pioneers with 2 hits.
Chase Goode (Castle Rock, CO) got the start on the mound and pitched 4 innings (3 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 SO) and gave way to Trae Awbery (Miles City, MT) for the next 1.1 innings (BB). Brandon Hegedus (Littleton, CO) entered and walked the 3 batters he faced. Ostyn Brennen (Kalispell, MT) cleaned up the final 1.2 innings (BB, 2 SO).

BSC scored a run in the bottom of the 1st and 3rd innings while posting 2 runs in the 5th.
Lee Neugebauer (Rapid City, SD) got the start on the mound and pitched 4.2 innings (4 R, 5 H, ER, BB, 8 SO) and gave the ball to Max Holden (Kalispell, MT) for the final 1.1 innings H, 2 SO).

If #1 seed Williston State defeats Dakota College at Bottineau next weekend, the tourney will be in Williston, ND.
