Pioneers Take 2 From Bismarck State

The Pioneers built a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the 4th and then had to hold on for dear life as the Mystics scored 3 runs in the 6th inning and loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 7th inning but Lance Bratlien struck out the final Mystic batter to secure a 6-5 win. 

MCC scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd after Bohden Bahnmiller (3B - Helena, MT) singled and was driven home by a double off the bat of Ostyn Brennen (C - Kalispell, MT). The Pioneers got 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a 2 RBI single from Cooper Morlang with 2 outs. 

Three more runs came across home plate in the 4th inning for the Pioneers after the Mystics got on the board in the top of the inning on a solo home run. Luke Wilson had a RBI single and Morlang drove in his 3rd and 4th runs of the game with a single. 

Davis Mosier (Billings, MT) got the start and pitched 6 solid innings (4 R, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 SO) and gave the final inning to Bratlien (3 H, R, 2 SO).

Inside the Box Score

  • Each team had 7 hits. MCC only extra base hit was a 2B. BSC had a HR and 2 2B.
  • BSC had 2 errors and MCC had 1.
  • Pioneer batters struck out 4 times, walked 9 times, and were hit by pitch once. 
  • Mystic batters struck out 6 times and were hit by pitch 3 times. 
  • MCC had 4 stolen bases. 

The Pioneers are now 17-5 in MonDak Conference play and 34-14 overall. The Pioneers and Mystics will play each other for the final time in the regular season on Sunday in Bismarck as the Mystics move to the NAIA level next season.
