Game 1 - Pioneers 16... Minnesota North - Rainy River 2
The MCC Pioneers punched in 5 runs in the 2nd inning and then added 7 more in the 3rd enroute to a lopsided 16-2 win in 5 innings against Minnesota North College - Rainy River on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona.
Rainy River got on the board 1st with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Luke Wilson (DH - Calgary, Alberta) led the 2nd inning off with a triple and Davis Mosier (3B - Billings, MT) was hit by a pitch. Luke Thorne (2B - Missoula, MT) doubled to drive in Wilson and push Mosier to 3rd. After 2 outs, Bohden Bahnmiller (SS - Helena, MT) singled to drive in Mosier and Thorne. Brady Bickett (CF - Rapid City, SD) walked and Lance Bratlien (RF - Helena, MT) doubled to drive in 2 more and the Pioneers led 5-1.
In the 7-run 3rd inning, Coleman Parry (1B - American Fork, UT) singled, Wilson followed that with a single, and Mosier walked to load the bases. After a Pioneer strikeout, Casey Morgan (LF - Salt Lake City, UT) walked to bring in another Pioneer run. Chandler Smith (C - Miles City, MT) singled to drive in 2 runs and the Pioneers went up 8-1. Bahnmiller hit another single to drive in Morgan. With 2 outs, MCC had back to back doubles by Bratlien and Parry to score a couple more runs.
MCC got a run in the 4th inning on a wild pitch and then 3 more in the 5th inning after Rainy River scored their 2nd run of the game. MCC loaded the bases in the 5th on walks and scored 2 runs via walk and another on a wild pitch. Bratlien (3 RBI), Parry, Wilson, Smith, and Bahnmiller (3 RBI) all had 2 hits in the game.
Max Holden (Kalispell, MT) got the start and pitched 5 innings (6 H, 2 R, BB, 9 SO).

Game 2 got off to a slow start for the Pioneers as Rainy River registered 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning to take a 4-0 lead.
MCC would answer with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning after the Pioneers loaded the basaes on a dropped 3rd strike, walk, and a bunt single. Davis Mosier scored on a wild pitch and Luke Thorne scored on a Ostyn Brennan (3B - Kalispell, MT) sacrifice fly. MCC got their 3rd run on wild pitch and then the big shot off the bat of Lance Bratlien brought 2 runners in on a triple.
Rainy River tied the game at 5-5 with a run in the 4th but the Pioneers took the lead for good with a run in the bottom of the 4th and bottom of 5th. In the 4th, Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) singled and scored on a Coleman Parry double. in the 5th, Luke Thorne singled, stole 2nd, and scored on a ground ball error.
The Pioneers then put the game away with 5 runs in the 6th inning. Goertz singled, Bratlien was hit by a pitch, and Parry singled to drive in Goertz. Luke Wilson singled to drive in Bratlien and Parry scored on a ground out by Mosier. Luke Thorne tripled to drive in a run and scored on a passed ball for the final 12-5 margin.
Parry had 3 hits (2 RBI) to lead the Pioneers and Goertz, Wilson, Thorne, and Brennan each had 2 hits.
Mayson Shively got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 5 innings (4 H, 5 R, 4 BB, 6 SO) and Brandon Hegadus (Littleton, CO) closed the final 2 innings (H, BB, 2 SO).
