Game 1 - Pioneers 14... Riverland CC 3 (5 Innings)

Lee Neugebauer (Rapid City, SD) and Ostyn Brennan (Kalispell, MT) put forth a solid effort on the mound and Luke Wilson (C - Calgary, Alberta) was 3-4 at the plate with 2 doubles and 4 RBI as the Pioneers routed Riverland CC 14-2 in 5 innings on Friday in Tucson, AZ. 

MCC registered 7 runs in the 1st innin) each had 2 RBI and 3 more in the 2nd to build a 10-0 lead. Riverland got a run back in the 2nd and another in the 3rd but the Pioneers added 4 more in the 5th inning to put the game on ice. 

Bohden Bahnmiller (SS - Helena, MT), Coleman Parry (1B - American Fork, UT), and Lance Bratlien (RF - Helena, MT) all accounted for 2 hits as the middle of the Pioneer lineup had 7 hits and 7 RBI. Bratlien and Davis Mosier (3B - Billings, MT). 

Neubebauer pitched 2.2 innings (4 H, 2 R, BB, 4 SO) before Brennan took over for the final 2.1 innings (2 H, R, 2 SO).

  • Pioneer batters struck out 3 times and walked 5 times.

Game 2 - Pioneers 4 ... Riverland CC 3 (8 Innings)

Riverland CC gave the Pioneers much more of a battle in game 2 on Friday afternoon. Riverland scored 1st on a run in the top of the 1st inning. 

The Pioneers then took their turn at bat and plopped 3 runs on the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning. Coleman Parry singled and Lance Bratlien followed that up with a 2-run home run and the Pioneers led 2-1. Luke Wilson continued his hot day by singling and moving to 2nd on a balk. Davis Mosier (3B - Billings, MT) drove in Wilson with a RBI single. 

Riverland got a run in the 2nd and another in the 3rd to tie the game 3-3 and it stayed that way until the 8th inning when both teams were able to start with a runner at 2nd base to start the inning. Riverland was not able to push a run across the plate and the Pioneers scored when Casey Morgan (Salt Lake City, UT) was placed at 2nd and was driven home on a single by Parry. 

Parry, Bratlien, and Wilson each had 2 hits for MCC. 

Chase Goode (Castle Rock, CO) got the start for MCC and pitched 1.1 innings (2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, SO) and Evan Woods (Casper, WY) took care of the next 4.2 innings (5 H, R, BB, 4 SO). Colin Fortier (American Fork, UT) closed out the final 2 inning  with a perfect statline that included 3 strikeouts.

The Pioneers are 10-5 on the season and will play Minnesota North - Rainy River CC on Saturday at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
