MCC Earns Its 2nd Split in as Many Days

Game 1 - Pioneers 3... Mount Marty JV 9

Mount Marty JV jumped on the Pioneers in the 1st inning by scoring 4 runs and held the Pioneers bats quiet in a 9-3 win on Tuesday in Tucson. 

The Pioneers only had 7 hits and scored a run in the 1st, 2nd, and 5th inning accounting for all of their runs. 

Luke Wilson (C - Calgary, Alberta) had 3 of the Pioneer hits including a triple and one RBI. Luke Thorne (2B - Missoula, MT) had a double. 

Davis Mosier (Billings, MT) got the start on the mound for the Pioneers and pitched 5.1 innings (8 H, 8 R, 5 ER, BB, 10 SO) before handing the ball to Colin Fortier (American Fork, UT) for the final 1.2 innings (2 H, R, BB).

Game 2 - Pioneers 15 ... Cal Miramar 6

The MCC Pioneers earned their 2nd split in as many days as the bats woke up for game 2 in a 15-6 Pioneer win over Cal Miramar on Tuesday afternoon. 

MCC got 2 runs in the 1st inning after a Bohden Bahnmiller (SS - Helena, MT) walk and 2 stolen bases, Luke Wilson singled him home for the 1st run of the game. Luke Thorne then singled in the 2nd run with 2 outs. 

The Pioneers then picked up 3 runs in the 2nd inning to take a 5-0 lead. Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) had a RBI single and then Wilson's bat stayed hot with a 2 RBI triple. Cal Miramar scored the next 4 runs of the game to cut the lead to 5-4 before the Pioneers scored 10 unanswered runs in the 5th (2), 6th (5), and 7th (3) innings.

Ostyn Brennen (3B - Kalispell, MT) had a 2 RBI single in the 5th inning to account for the Pioneer scoring. In the 6th inning, the Pioneers had the bases loaded and Davis Mosier, Thorne, and Cooper Morlang (2B - Rapid City, SD) each walked in a run. Casey Morgan (CF - Salt Lake City, UT) ended the scoring in the 6th with a 2 RBI single to leftfield. 

In the 7th inning, Mosier hit a RBI double, Brennen had a RBI single and the final run came on on a Miramar error. 

Wilson had 3 hits and Mosier, Brennen, and Brock Lopez (Commerce City, CO) had 2 hits. 

Trae Awbery (Miles City, MT) got the start for MCC and pitched 1.2 innings (R, 6 BB, SO). Evan Woods (Casper, WY) pitched the next inning (4 H, 3 R, 3 BB) before handing the ball to Brandon Hegadus (Littleton, CO) for the next 3.1 innings (H, BB, SO). Sam Hall (Eureka, MT) pitched the final inning (2 R, 3 BB, 2 SO).
