Game 3 - Pioneers 19... Northeastern JC 14
Runs were piling across home plate at a very rapid rate on Wednesday afternoon in Sterling, CO. The Pioneers scored multiple runs in 5 out of the 7 innings played and were only shut out in the 5th.
The Pioneers kicked the game off with 5 runs in the 1st inning highlighted by a bases clearing double from Chandler Smith (C - Miles City, MT). Northeastern JC answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the frame. MCC got 3 more runs in the 2nd on Coleman Parry's (1B - American Fork, UT) 6th home run in 7 games that plated 2 runs. Ethan Forrest (2B - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) drove in another run with a triple. . NJC got two more runs to cut the Pioneer lead to 8-5.
MCC doubled the lead in the 3rd inning highlighted by a home run from Bohden Bahnmiller (SS - Helena, MT). NJC tied the game 10-10 with 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd. The Pioneers got a run in the 4th to take the lead and NJC took the lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning.
The Pioneers put the hammer down in the 6th and 7th innings. MCC got 3 runs in the 6th. Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) drove in a run with a double and Parry drove Goertz in with a RBI single. MCC scored the final run in the inning on a bases loaded walk. NJC tied the game at 14-14 going to the 7th inning but Bahnmiller regsitered his 2nd dinger of the game for a one run lead and Forrest stayed hot with a grand slam home run.
Goertz and Forrest each had 3 hits while Parry and Brady Bickett (CF - Rapid City, SD) had 2.
Eli Kelley (Rapid City, SD) got the start and pitched 2 innings (10 H, 10 R, 9 ER, 3 BB) and was relieved by Ostyn Brennen (Kalispell, MT) for 3 innings of work (3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 SO). Lance Bratlien (Helena, MT) picked up the win with 2 innings (2 R, 2 R, BB, 3 SO) of work.

Pioneer bats cooled off a bit in the final game of 8 games over 4 days. MCC got only 8 hits and couldn't muster up the big innings that had been aiding them in previous games. NJC used a 6-run 2nd inning and a 6-run 6th to put the Pioneers away after MCC tied the game 7-7 in the top of the 5th.
The Pioneers got 2 hits from Brady Bickett (2 RBI) and 2 from Evan Smith (3B - Wenatchee, WA) that included 2 doubles. Cooper Morlang (2B - Rapid City, SD) also added 2 hits that included a double 2 RBI).
Josiah Ruther (Whitefish, MT) got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 1.2 innings (3 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, SO) and gave way to Evan Woods (Casper, WY) for the next 4 innings (4 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO). Mason Manning (Sheridan, WY) got the final out after giving up 1 run on 1 hit with 1 walk.
