Game 1 - Pioneers 11... Northeastern JC 6

Coleman Parry (1B - American Fork, UT) belted his 4th home run of the season in 5 games on a 3-5 (3 RBI, R) effort at the plate and Brady Bickett (CF - Rapid City, SD) hit a bases clearing triple in the 5th inning that gave the Pioneers an 8-3 lead that they would not relinquish in a 11-6 win over Northeastern JC in game 1 of a 4 game series on Tuesday afternoon. 

MCC scored a run in each of the first 4 innings and then picked up 4 in the 5th and 3 insurance runs in the 7th to put away the Region IX Plainsman. Lance Bratlien (RF - Helena, MT) picked up 2 doubles and scored twice to aid in the victory. Also picking up 2 hits were Luke Wilson (C - Calgary, Alberta), Davis Mosier (Triple) (3B - Billings, MT), and Ethan Forrest (2B - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) (2 RBI). Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) had 2 RBI as well.

Bohden Bahnmiller (Helena, MT) got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 4 innings (5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, SO) before giving way to Bickett for the next 2 innings (H, 3 R, 3 BB, SO) and Bratlien closed it out pitching one inning (H, BB, SO).

Inside the Box Score

  • MCC picked up 15 hits (3 2B, 2 3B, HR) compared to 7 hits for NJC.
  • Pioneer batters struck out 5 times and walked 4 times.

Game 2 - Pioneers 7... Northeastern JC 12

NJC smacked 2 home runs in the 2nd inning on a grand slam and a 3-run homer piling up 5 runs and then put the game on ice with 5 more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning after the MCC Pioneers tied the score at 7-7 enroute to a 12-7 win to split Tuesday's doubleheader. 

MCC got on the board with a run in the 1st inning and then added another in the 2nd before the NJC explosion in the bottom of the 2nd. MCC then inched closer in the 5th inning highlighted by a 3-run homer from Cooper Morlang (2B - Rapid City, SD). The Pioneers then tied the game at 7-7 on another home run from Coleman Parry (5). 

Parry had 2 hits in the game as did Ostyn Brennen (SS - Kalispell, MT) as MCC mustered up just 8 hits in the game. 

AJ Truman (Eureka, MT) got the start and pitched 1.1 innings (4 H, 7 R, 4 BB, SO. Colin Fortier (American Fork, UT) got the next 2.2 innings (2 H, 2 BB, 3 SO) before handing hte ball to Mason Manning (Sheridan, WY) for 1 inning (H, 2 R, 2 BB). Sam Hall (Eureka, MT) went 0.2 innings (H, 3 R, 2 BB, SO) and Brandon Hegedus (Littleton, CO) pitched the final out.
