Game 1 - Pioneers 13... Dawson 6
The MCC Pioneer baseball team clinched the MonDak Conference title with a 13-6 win in game 1 on Sunday afternoon in Glendive.
The Pioneers scored first in the top of the 1st inning they loaded the bases without a hit to start the game. SS Jaeden Jordahl walked, LF Grant Gabbert was hit by a pitch, and C Takumi Kimoto walked. Jordahl scored as DH Tommy O'Connell hit into a double play and the inning came to an end with Gabbert trying to steal home.
Dawson came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and then the Pioneers took charge of the game with 5 runs in the top of the 3rd. 3B Lane Neill started the inning with a double and 2B Jessen West drove Neill in with a double of his own. Jordahl smacked a 2-run home run to give the Pioneers a 4-2 lead. With 2 outs, O'Connell and RF Wyatt Searcey singled to put runners on the corners. CF Kruz Slevira hit a 2 RBI double and the Pioneers led 6-2 heading to the bottom of the 3rd.
That lead expanded to 9-2 in the 4th inning when West reached base on an error followed by consecutive walks from Jordahl and Gabbert. Kimoto then fired a 2 RBI single and the Pioneers had runners on the corners. With 2 outs, Wyatt Searcey had an RBI single to finish the Pioneer scoring in the 4th. The Pioneers tacked another run in the 5th with a West walk and Jordahl single. With 2 outs, Kimoto reached base on an error and West scored.
Dawson tightened things up a little bit in the bottom of the 5th cutting the Pioneer lead to 10-6. MCC would quickly answer back in the 6th with 2 more runs when Slevira was hit by a pitch, Spencer Searcey walked, and Lane Neill was hit by pitch to load the bases. Jessen West then drove in 2 runs with a sharp single to centerfield. PH Kam Kostial and Slevira hit back to back singles followed by a sacrifice fly RBI from Spencer Searcey.
Patrick Dietz got the start for Miles and pitched 5 innings (6 R, 5 H, 4 BB, 2 SO) and was relieved by Jeremy Gee for the final 2 innings (2 H, SO).

Game 2 - Pioneers 5... Dawson 6
The Pioneers fell just short in the last game of the regular season with a 6-5 loss in Glendive Sunday afternoon.
Dawson led 2-0 going to the bottom of the 4th when the Pioneers got on the board for the first time after a SS Dyson Kinnaman triple with one out was followed by C Bryan Roselles reaching base on an error. LF Noah Aufdengarten singled to drive in Kinnaman. Dawson picked up a run in the top of the 5th to take a 3-1 lead but the Pioneers plated 3 in the bottom of the inning to take their first lead of the game. With one out, DH Michael Ohlin reached base on an error and CF Brady Jones was hit by a pitch. After a Kinnaman ground out that moved Ohlin to 3rd, Ohlin scored on a wild pitch and Jones advanced to 3rd. Aufdengarten was hit by a pitch and Matt Burton drove in the go ahead run with a single.
Dawson tied the game at 4-4 in the 6th inning but MCC took the lead again with a run in the bottom of the 6th. Three walks in a row from Kostial, Ohlin, and Jones led to Roselles getting hit by a pitch with 2 outs and the Pioneers led 5-4.
MCC could not hold the lead in the 7th as the Bucs picked up 2 runs and MCC went down quietly in the bottom of the 7th.
Bo Hays pitched 5.1 innings for the Pioneers (4 R, 5 H, 4 BB, SO) and Spencer Searcey pitched 0.2 innings (2 BB). Cameron Murphy pitched the 7th inning (2 R, 2 H).

Game 1 begins at 2:00 PM MST and game 2 will be 30 minutes following. The if necessary game 3 would take place on Sunday. If the Pioneers win the series, they will host the Region XIII Tournament May 12-13. No passes will be honored for the games on Saturday or Sunday against Bottineau.
