Game 1 - Pioneers 6 ... Fraser Valley 5 (8 Innings)
The 2nd weekend of games in Tucson, Arizona for the MCC Pioneers started off with a doubleheader against the University of Fraser Valley on Friday afternoon. MCC got on the board 1st in the bottom of the 1st when RF Wyatt Searcey (Denver, CO) and C Takumi Kimoto (Brisbane, Australia) walked. Searcy advanced to 3rd on an error by the Fraser Valley pitcher and then scored on a ground out by 1B Kam Kostial (Rexburg, ID).
MCC picked up another run in the 2nd inning after LF Grant Gabbert (Thorton, CO) doubled and then scored on a CF Kruz Slevira (Billings, MT) double to right field.
Fraser Valley then notched 4 runs in the top of the 3rd to take a 4-2 lead. MCC quickly responded with another single run in the bottom of the 3rd. Takumi Kimoto doubled and courtesy runner Brady Jones (Manhattan, MT) moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. He scored on a sacrifice fly by 3B Lane Neill (Belgrade, MT).
In the top of the 4th, Fraser Valley plated another run for a 5-3 lead. The Pioneers tied it up in the bottom of the 4th after SS Jessen West singled and DH Matt Burton sacrificed West to 2nd base. Wyatt Searcey walked after West moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. Searcey thn stole 2nd and Kimoto hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored West. Kostial then tied the game up with a single that scored Searcey.
The game went to extra innings and in the bottom of the 8th, Kimoto reached base on an error and Kostial walked. Jack Corriveau (Kalispell, MT) came in as a courtesy runner. Both runners moved up a base on a sacrifice by Lane Neill before Grant Gabbert came up the hero with a single to right field scoring Corriveau.
Patrick Dietz (Manhattan, MT) pitched the first 3.1 innings (5 H, 5 R, 5 BB, 6 SO). Michael Ohlin (Billings, MT) pitched 2.2 inning of one hit baseball and he struck out 2. Cameron Murphy (Torrington, WY) pitched the 7th & 8th innings, striking out 2, walking one, and giving up 2 hits.

Game 2 - Pioneers 13... Fraser Valley 3 (5 Innings)
MCC got off to a great start in game 2 by scoring 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Matt Burton reached 1st base on an error followed by walks for Takumi Kimoto and Grant Gabbert. Kruz Slevira singled to bring 2 runs in. Gabbert scored on a balk and DH Tommy O'Connell (Kalispell, MT) hit a sharp single to center field that scored Slevira. Lane Neill then reached base on an error and Jessen West grounded into a fielder's choice and West stole 2nd putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. 2B Dalton Martin (Gillette, WY) walked to load the bases bringing up Matt Burton. Burton snuck a single by the 2nd baseman that scored O'Connell and West.
The Pioneers pushed another run across home plate in the 2nd inning when Grant Gabbert singled, stole 2nd, and scored on a Slevira single. They scored again in the 3rd inning after a Burton walk and advance to 2nd on a wild pitch, Gabbert singled to score Burton for a 8-0 lead.
MCC tacked on another run in the 4th inning when Kam Kostial led the inning off with a double and scored when Neill reached base on an error by the Fraser Valley shortstop. Fraser Valley cut in to the 9-0 Pioneer lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th.
In the top of the 5th inning, Brady Jones (Manhattan, MT) was hit by a pitch, then stole 2nd and 3rd before O'Connell smacked a 2-run home run to left field for a 11-3 Pioneer lead. Lane Neill then walked and Jessen West singled. The Pioneers executed a double steal and Neill scored on an error by the catcher. 2B Dyson Kinnaman (Belgrade, MT) then singled to drive in West for a 13-3 Pioneer lead.
Tyler Cutler (Helena, MT) pitched game 2 for MCC. He pitched 4 innings (2 H, 3 R, 6 BB, 3 SO) before giving the ball to Hayden Meehan (Columbia Falls, MT) for the final inning. Meehan gave up one hit and had one strikeout.
