Pioneers 6 ... Riverland CC 11
Riverland CC pounded out 17 hits and scored 6 runs over the 3rd and 4th innings enroute to a 11-6 win over the Miles CC Pioneers snapping the Pioneers 4-game win streak. LF Grant Gabbert (Thorton, CO) had his bat ready to go for the Pioneers as he accounted for 4 of the Pioneers 7 hits on the game. Gabbert was 4-4 (2 2B, 3 RBI).
2B Dalton Martin (Gillette, WY) walked 3 times, had a stolen base, and scored 2 of the Pioneer runs. The other hits for MCC came on a double from Wyatt Searcey (Denver, CO), and singles from Jessen West (Billings, MT) and 1B Kam Kostial (Rexburg, ID).
The Pioneers led 3-2 after 2 innings but then watched Riverland score 8 runs over the next 4 innings to take a commanding 10-3 lead. MCC tried to rally late scoring a run in the 6th and 2 in the 7th but could not get any closer.
Bridger Erickson (St. Anthony, ID) got the start for game 1 Sunday and pitched 3 innings (8 H, 6 R, 3 BB, 4 SO) before giving way to Spencer Searcey (Denver, CO) to go the final 4 innings (9 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 3 SO).
Pioneers 11... Northland CTC 3
For the 2nd straight day, the MCC Pioneers defeated Northland CTC to move to 5-4 on the season and split games on Sunday in Tucson, AZ. DH Greg Harrold (Salt Lake City, UT) made his first action as a Pioneer something to remember. Coming off an injury that sidelined him in the season series opener at Northeastern JC, Harold went 2-3 (3B, 4 RBI) with a 2 RBI single in the 1st and followed that up with a 2 RBI triple in the third inning to help put the Pioneers up 6-2 after 3 innings.
LF Matt Burton (Helena, MT) also went 2-3 (2B, RBI, R, BB) and 3B Lane Neill (Belgrade, MT) was a perfect 2-2 with 2 runs scored. The Pioneers also got triples from Billings, MT natives Kruz Slevira (RBI) and Jessen West (Run) to aid in the victory. Grant Gabbert had a hit and an RBI.
Tyler Cutler (Helena, MT) got the start on the mound and pitched 3 innings (2 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 SO) and was relieved by Jacob Walker (Brisbane, Australia) who pitched 2 innings (H, R, BB, 4 SO). Josh Banderob (Great Falls, MT) pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Cameron Murphy (Torrington, WY) also pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
The Pioneers will have a day off on Monday before playing a doubleheader on Tuesday against Minnesota West Community & Technical College at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM MST.
