MCC Wins a Slugfest Over Dakota County Tech

An early 0-6 deficit was not nearly enough to make the Miles CC Baseball blink as the Pioneers rallied for a 19-10 victory over Dakota County Tech in the 1st round of the Region XIII Playoffs in Rosemount, MN.

8 of the 9 Pioneer starters registered at least 2 hits and all of those players had at least an RBI in the high scoring affair. The Pioneers had 17 hits in the game. Dakota County jumped ahead 6-0 in the top of the 2nd but in the bottom half of the inning CF Jake Lacey walked and then scored on an RBI double by LF Ian Krump. RF Hunter Lasko singled to bring in Krump and give the Pioneers some life. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Pioneers took advantage of 2 free passes to first base as 2B Cade Stuff and 3B Tim Holyk were both hit by pitch. DH Lewis Johnson then had an RBI single scoring Stuff. Jake Lacey delivered a blow to the chances of DCTC as he connected on a 3-run homer to centerfield tying the score at 6. 

The Pioneers took the lead for good with 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th after SS Brayden Howard singled, advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, and then was driven home on a double by Stuff. The nations RBI leader Dawson Parry then hit a RBI double scoring Stuff. 3B Tim Holyk then singled putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Jake Lacey came up big again with a double to right field scoring Parry. Ian Krump then doubled scoring Holyk and Lacey to give the Pioneers a 11-6 lead. 

Dakota County registered 4 runs in the 6th to cut the score to 11-10 before MCC scored 5 in the 7th inning to pull away. Krump singled and Lasko doubled to start the inning. Howard then doubled scoring Krump and Lasko. Stuff followed that up with a RBI double and a 14-10 lead. Parry was hit by a pitch and Holyk drove in Stuff with a single. Lewis Johnson the hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Parry and a 16-10 lead. The Pioneers finished things off in the 8th with a Parry 2 RBI double that scored Lasko and Howard and that was followed up with a sacrifice fly RBI by Holyk that scored Stuff giving the Pioneers a walk off victory. The Pioneers registered 8 doubles, a home run, and 10 singles in the game. 

Jett Hasegawa got the start and went 6 innings in the game. Hasegawa was having trouble finding his spots as hie gave up 10 runs on 6 hits with 5 walks. He struck out 6. Dylan Rydalch finished the final 2 innings giving up 3 hits and no runs.
