The Bismarck State Mystics used some overly hot bats to slug out a 16-12 win in the MonDak Conference semifinal game and advance to the championship with a 16-12 win over the 7th ranked MCC Pioneers. The loss snapped a 17-game winning streak for the Pioneers.
Bismarck State scored in 7 of the 9 innings they batted and belted out 21 hits in the process. The Pioneers sent 6 different pitchers to the mound but couldn't find the right combination to keep the Mystics from sending runners across the plate. Anthony Bleggi got the start and went 2.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and a strikeout. Cameron Murphy replaced Bleggi and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits with a strikeout in just 2 innings of work. Cy Miller then came in and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Dylan Rydalch struck out 2 in 1 inning while giving up a run on a hit. Chase Linn went 0.2 innings and gave up 6 hits and 4 runs before Stockton Brems ended the game getting the last out on a strikeout.
The Pioneers were led at the plate by SS Brayden Howard with a 3-5 effort and 3 RBI. 2B Cade Stuff was 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. CF Jake Lacey was 2-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored while RF Hunter Lasko was 3-4 with an RBI and 4 runs scored in the game. Lasko homered and hit 2 doubles while Lacey had 2 doubles and catcher Jaden Webster hit a double.
The Pioneers will face the winner of the Lake Region State/Dawson CC game Monday at 10:00 AM MST. The winner will then face Bismarck State in the championship and will have to beat the Mystics twice to win the title. The top 3 teams advance to the Region XIII Playoff in Rosemount, MN next weekend.
