Game 1 - Pioneers 22... Dawson 10
In a wild, high scoring game on Wednesday afternoon in Glendive, the 10th ranked MCC Pioneers scored 10 runs in the 7th inning to pull away from Dawson 22-10 in a game that featured 18 walks and 8 errors. The Pioneers got on the board early plating 5 in the 1st inning. Dawson pitchers walked the bases loaded and then CF Jake Lacey drew a walk for a 1-0 lead. LF Ian Krump then crushed a 3-run home run over the left field wall and a 5-0 lead.
The Pioneers pushed the lead to 9-3 in the 4th inning with 4 runs starting with a sacrifice fly RBI by 2B Ryota Kusumoto and an RBI single by 1B Dawson Parry. Parry then scored on a Dawson error. The Buccaneers then tied the game at 9 in the bottom of the 4th with a 6-run inning. MCC put things away with a 10-run 7th inning that started with the nation's home run leader Parry knocking out his 22nd of the season. Lacey then hit a 3-run blast as the lead swelled to 16-9. SS Brayden Howard then had a 2-run single and Kusumoto knocked in 2 more with a double to right field. Parry doubled in Kusumoto and Dawson pitchers walked in the final run of the game.
Seven Pioneers had a multi-hit game in their 18 hit effort. Brayden Howard was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and Dawson Parry was 3-6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. 3B Tim Holyk was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Lewis Jonson was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and Jake Lacey was 2-4 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Ian Krump was 2-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scroed and Deklan Harper was 3-6 with 3 runs scored.
Game 2 - Pioneers 12... Dawson 1
10 walks and a big game from SS Takumi Kimoto and CF Jake Lacey led the Pioneers to another win over Dawson. Kimoto was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored while Lacey was 3-4 with a triple, 3 RBI, and a run scored. 2B Clay Prell homered and had 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored as the Pioneers only had 7 hits in the game but walked 10 times.
4 Pioneer pitchers combined on a 4-hit, 12-strikout performance to shut down the Dawson offense. Cameron Murphy got the start and struck out 5 in 3 innings of work. He did not allow a hit or a walk. Dylan Rydalch took the 4th inning and had 2 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits. Deklan Harper pitched the next 2 innings and struck out 4 while only giving up 1 hit. Jay Neugebauer closed out the game with 1 strikeout, 1 hit and 1 run.
The Pioneers will now set their sights on the MonDak Conference Tournament May 7-9 in Williston, ND and will go in as the #1 seed. The Pioneers are 39-11 and 21-2 in MonDak Conference play.
