Game 1 - Pioneers 8... Lake Region 6
Game 1 in Devils Lake, ND was looking bleak as the Lake Region State Royals stormed out to a 4-0 lead after 3 innings before the Pioneers registered 6 runs in the 4th triggered by a 2B Cade Stuff grand slam as the Pioneers snuck out a 8-6 win in game 1. Earlier in the 4th inning RF Lewis Johnson got the Pioneers on the board with a solo home run to trigger the big inning. The Pioneers mustered up only 6 hits in the game and 1B Dawson Parry was the only Pioneer with 2 hits going 2-4 including a double.
Keith Manby got the start on the mound but had a rough day. He pitched only 3 innings and walked 6 Royals, giving up 4 hits, 4 runs, and striking out 3. Cameron Murphy entered in the 4th inning to finish off the final 4 innings and struck out 3 Royals. He gave up 4 hits and 2 runs to pick up the win.
Game 2 - Pioneers 16... Lake Region 0 (6 Innings)
Game 2 was never in doubt as the Pioneers plated 4 runs in the first inning and starting pitcher Chase Linn threw a gem in a 16-0 win over Lake Region State in 5 innings. Linn pitched flawlessly as he allowed only 2 hits over 5 innings and struck out 5. He didn't walk a batter during his time on the mound. Jay Neugebauer came in to clean things up in the 6th and struck out 2 while walking the only Royal of the game.
Offensively, 2B Cade Stuff stayed hot cracking 2 more home runs, had 3 RBI and also scored 3 runs in the game. 6 different Pioneers had multiple hits in the game. SS Brayden Howard was 2-5 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored. 1B Dawson Parry was 2-5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored while 3B Tim Holyk was 2-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. CF Jake Lacey was 3-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. LF Ian Krump hit a 3-run home run in the big 8-run 6th inning to put the game out of reach and also scored twice in the game.
The 14th ranked Pioneers moved to 36-11 on the season and 18-2 in MonDak Conference play. The same two teams will play 2 again tomorrow starting at 10:00 AM MST.
