Pioneers Win 9th Straight Game

Game 1 - MCC 15... DCB 1

The Pioneers scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning and followed up with 8 runs in the 5th to overwhelm the DCB Lumberjacks with a 5-inning 15-1 victory in game 1 on Sunday. Shortstop Brayden Howard was 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and 3B Tim Holyk homered and had 3 RBI to key the offensive performance for the Pioneers. 2B Cade Stuff was 2-4 with 2 RBI and also scored twice. The Pioneers belted out 12 hits and had 7 walks in the game. 

Keith Manby had a strong outing going 4 innings and giving up only 2 hits and 1 run. He walked 3 batters but struck out 6. Deklan Harper pitched the final inning striking out 2 and walking 1 in a scoreless 5th inning. 

 

Game 2 - MCC 14... DCB 5

MCC picked up where they left off in game 1 by scoring 8 runs in the first inning to coast to a 14-5 win and a 4-game MonDak Conference opening sweep of the Dakota College-Bottineau Lumberjacks. The win was the Pioneers 9th straight victory and moved their overall record to 22-9. A balanced offensive attack saw catcher Grayson Skinner, DH Lewis Johnson, RF Hunter Lasko, LF Ian Krump all drive in 2 runs in the game. Lasko hit the only home run for the Pioneers and Brayden Howard, Deklan Harper, Dawson Parry, and Cole Thomas all doubled in the game. 

Dylan Rydalch got the start on the mound and went 4 innings striking out 8 Lumberjacks. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and walked only 1 batter. Jay Neugebauer gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and struck out 3 in 1 inning of work. Mason Flanary and Jaxon Grogan each pitched an inning and gave up 0 runs with a strikeout each. Pioneer pitchers notched 13 strikouts in the game. 

The Pioneers will travel to Bismarck State next Friday for a doubleheader and then return home Saturday for another doubleheader against the Mystics.
