Pioneers Blast Dakota College in Saturday Doubleheader

The MCC Pioneer Baseball team took full advantage of its first home games at Connors Stadium in nearly 2 years as they scored early and often in a Saturday sweep of the Lumberjacks from Dakota College-Bottineau. The Pioneers combined for 25 runs on 18 hits in the sweep that included multiple home runs and pitching dominance in the wins. 

Game 1... Pioneers 13... DCB 1

Ian Krump (LF, Rapid City, SD) and Dawson Parry (1B, American Fork, UT) each went deep twice in a game 1 dominance of Dakota College-Bottineau. Krump homered early and Parry late while Pioneer pitching combined on a 3-hitter while Pioneer pitching combined on a 3-hitter in a dominating home opener for the Pioneers. Parry Started slow striking out in his first at bat but rallied late to hit home runs in the 5th and 6th innings to rack up 7 RBI's on the day. Krump's home runs were both solo shots early as he homered in the 2nd and 4th innings to give the Pioneers all they needed to post home victory #1. 

Pioneer pitchers Jett Hasegawa (Brisbane, Australia), Dylan Rydalch (Rexburg, ID), and Cameron Murphy (Torrington, WY) combined on a 3-hit, 9-strikeout masterpiece to keep the Lumberjacks at bay from start to finish. 

 

Game 2... Pioneers 12... DCB 0

Miles City native Clay Prell set the table in the first inning with a grand slam home run to lead the Pioneers to a 12-0 romping of Bottineau in game 2 of the Saturday doubleheader. Ian Krump added 2 RBI's and Tim Holyk (Nanaimo, BC) plated 3 in the Domination of the Lumberjacks. 

3 Pioneer pitchers combined for a no hitter. Anthony Bleggi (Driggs, ID) struck out the side in the first inning, Jaxon Grogan (Parker, CO) pitched 3 innings of no-hit baseball while striking out 4 Lumberjacks and walking 3. Brendon Ball (Rexburg, ID) completed the gem with a perfect 5th inning. 

The 2 MonDak Conference teams will play another non conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in Miles City.
