Trinidad State Turns Tides on Pioneer Baseball

A day after sweeping a doubleheader at Trinidad State, the Miles CC Pioneers were swept on day two of the weekday series as the TSJC Trojans built quick early leads and held on in both games to drop the Pioneers record to 5-4 on the young season. The games were moved up to mid-week from the originally scheduled weekend games to to cold weather forecast in Southern Colorado.

Game 1 - Miles CC 1... Trinidad State 9

The Pioneers couldn't get the bats going in game 1 of the doubleheader coming away with only 4 hits. Brayden Howard (American Fork, UT) got 2 of the 4 Pioneer hits in the game and scored its only run. Cade Stuff (Great Falls, MT) had a hit and the only RBI of game 1. Ian Krump had a double for the other MCC hit. 

Chase Linn started the game on the mound and went 3 1/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 4 runs. Dylan Rydalch (Rexburg, ID) filled in during the 4th inning and gave up 5 hits and 4 runs in his 1 1/3 innings pitched. The Trojans scored at least one run in every inning and piled up 13 hits for the game. 

 

Game 2 - Miles CC 5... Trinidad State 8

The Pioneers fell behind 8-1 before making things interesting in a 4-run 6th inning that saw Pioneer home runs by Dawson Parry (American Fork, UT) and Ian Krump (Rapid City, SD). Parry went 3-4 on the day with 6 total bases. Brayden Howard was 2-3 as the Pioneers had 8 hits in the game. Keith Manby (White Rock, BC) got the game 4 start and loss as he gave up 6 runs on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings pitched.
