Game 1 - Miles CC 4... Trinidad State 2
Miles Community College scored an insurance run in each of the final 2 innings and Anthony Bleggi (Driggs, Idaho) held the Trinidad State Trojans to just one hit over 6 1/3 innings of work (6 strikeouts & 4 walks) while Jay Neugebauer closed it out getting the final 2 outs as the Pioneers defeated Trinidad State Junior College 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Trinidad State Junior College got on the board first with one run in the first inning. The Pioneers took the lead for good with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning before notching a run in the 6th and 7th frames.
The Pioneers collected nine hits on the day. Jaden Webster (South Jordan, UT) and Ian Krump (Rapid City, SD) each had 2 hits and Jake Lacey (Gillette, Wyoming) had an RBI double and scored a run in the 2nd inning.
Game 2 - Miles CC 5 ... Trinidad State 4
Trinidad State jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 1 inning but that wouldn't be enough for the Trojans as they wouldn't score again and the Miles Community College Pioneer baseball team took game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader with a 5-4 win on the road in Trinidad, Colorado.
Dawson Parry went deep for the 2nd time of the day and Jake Lacey also homered as the Pioneers rallied to sweep the doubleheader. Brayden Howard (American Fork, UT) collected 2 hits as did Lacey as part of the 8 hits for the Pioneers on the afternoon.
Jett Hasegawa (Brisbaine, Australia) got the start on the mound and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikouts in his 3 innings pitched. Jack Corriveau (Kalispell, MT), Cy Miller (Helena, MT), and Deklan Harper (Laurel, MT) combined for 4 shutout innings in the victory.
The two teams will play another doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.
