Pioneers Split Games With Plainsmen for 2nd Straight Day

For the 2nd consecutive day, the Miles Community College Baseball team split a doubleheader with the NJC Plainsmen in Sterling, Colorado. Both games featured a myriad of walks and hit batsmen as both teams pitchers struggled with control on the mound. 

GAME 3 - MCC 9 - NJC 8

Cade Stuff (Great Falls, MT) hit a 2-run double in the top of the 6th inning as the Miles Community College Pioneers rallied for a late 9-8 win over Northeastern JC on Saturday afternoon in Sterling, Colorado.  The Pioneers trailed 4-1 before piling in 6 runs in the top of the 5th inning to take a 7-4 lead. The Plainsmen rallied with 4 of their own in the bottom of the 5th and headed to the 6th inning with an 8-7 lead. Stuff's heroics came with 1 out in the 6th as he lined a double to center field scoring Jake Lacey and Tim Holyk

Jay Neugenbauer (Rapid City, SD) came in to close out the game in the 7th inning as the Pioneers moved to 2-1 on young season. Dawson Parry continued his hot bat going 2-4 at the plate with 2 RBI's on the day. 

GAME 4 - NJC 8 - MCC 7

In a game played in 30 degree weather, both pitching staffs walked a combined 28 batters and each team had only 5 hits as the Plainsmen had a walk-off win in the bottom of the 7th. Cade Stuff went 2-3 at the plate with 3 RBI to lead the Pioneers. The two teams will be back at it Sunday afternoon to close out the 6-game series. Games are at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
