(Miles City, MT) Miles Community College head baseball coach Jeff Brabant has announced the signing of Helena Senator product Tyler Tenney for the 2021-2022 season. Tenney is a 6'2 shortstop from Helena Capital High School and is the son of Amy and Kevin Tenney.
Tenney is entering his senior season for the Helena Senators coached by Jon Burnett. Tenney also plays for Big Sky Baseball during the fall. Tyler has had a great high school career for both programs, hitting .342 with 37 RBIs and 34 runs scored. Tenney also pitched for the Sens, winning 5 games and saving 3, giving up only 23 hits in 33 innings while striking out an average of 1 per inning. He also had a 1.273 ERA allowing 6 earned runs.
During his junior year, Tyler was an All-Conference shortstop while also leading his team to a runner up finish at state. Tyler also excels on the basketball court where he was Capital High's team MVP the past 2 years.
While at MCC, Tenney plans on working towards Business/Accounting degree.
On why Tenney chose MCC : "I chose Miles Community College because I really like the environment there. I like how Coach Brabant runs things and treats his players. I felt very welcomed on my visit there and think that I will grow both as a player and a person there."
Coach Brabant on signing Tyler Tenney: " Simple…Tyler is one of the best, if not the best, shortstops in Montana. He does everything that we want in an infielder. He had great feet, hands and arm action. He is that type of player that thinks a pitch and a play in advance, knows where to be, what to do, and those tangibles are hard to teach. His instincts commensurated with his athletic ability make him a great get for us. We graduate both of our shortstops this year and we believe that Tyler will step right in and compete for us on day one. Tyler also has a tremendous work ethic and character to boot. It will be great to watch what Tyler will become in our uniform and where he propels himself moving on to an NCAA school."
