Game 1
The MCC Pioneer Baseball team exploded for 20 runs on only 10 hits in a 6 inning romp over Central Lakes-Brainerd. Central Lakes walked an amazingly high 16 batters in 6 innings which led to the huge run scoring output. The Pioneers hit 5 doubles and had 10 RBI in the lopsided contest. Dawson Parry (American Fork, UT) went 1-1 but scored 4 runs as he walked 3 times in the game. Jaden Webster (South Jordan, UT) went 1-3 with 3 RBI to help the onslaught in a very poor pitching performance by Brainerd.
Jett Hasegawa (Brisbane, Aus) picked up the win on the bump as he went 3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 4 batters. Jack Stead and Zack Jensen came in to finish out the victory.
Game 2
Central Lakes-Brainerd roughed up Pioneer starter Chris Rofe (Sydney, Aus) for 9 runs on 6 hits in 1.2 innings and took a 10-1 lead after 2 1/2 innings but the MCC Pioneers dug deep and found a way to rally for a 13-12 win in game 2 of the double header.
Dawson Parry went 2-3 at the plate and had 5 RBI and Keith Manby (White Rock, BC) was 2-3 with 2 RBI to lead the huge comeback victory to move the Pioneers to 8-1 on the young season. Brayden Howard (American Fork, UT) added a 3-4 effort at the plate and scored 4 runs.
Stockton Brems filled in on the mound after Rofe's rought start to stabilize things as he went 4 innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. The Pioneers will take Tuesday off before returning to the diamond on Wednesday.
