Softball Adds 2 More Wins To Sweep Weekend in Minot

Sunday, Game 1 - Pioneers 5... Williston State 2 

The MCC Pioneers were outhit 10-5 on Sunday morning in Minot but with the game tied at 1-1 going to the bottom of the 3rd, the Pioneers found a way to score 2 runs in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th to stretch their lead to 5-1 enroute to a 5-2 victory. 

Arin Eaton (CF - Belgrade, MT) was the only Pioneer with 2 hits and Rylynn Krein (DP - Fergus Falls, MT) had a hit and 2 RBI as did Viannca Martin (RF - Billings, MT) as the Pioneers moved to 3-0 on the season. 

Rian Ferriter (Butte, MT) got the start in the circle and pitched a complete game (7 IP, 10 H, 2 R, BB, 8 SO) keeping the Tetons to just one run in the 3rd inning and another in the 7th.

Inside the Box Score

  • The Pioneers walked 7 times and had 3 stolen bases. 
  • The Tetons walked just once and had one stolen base. 
  • Each team had 2 doubles. 
  • Williston batters struck out 8 times and Pioneer batters struck out 2 times. 

 

Game 2 - Pioneers 30... Dakota College 0

MCC built a 10-0 lead after 3 innings and then rambled off 14 runs in the 4th and 6 more in the 6th to shut out the Bottineau Lumberjacks 30-0 in the final game of the opening pitch classic in Minot, ND. 

Arin Eaton (CF - Belgrade, MT) was 3-3 at the plate as was Addison Sanders (Idaho Falls, ID). Paityn Ralphs (2B - Ammon, ID) had 3 hits in 5 at bats with 3 runs batted in. 

Lily Bolin (1B - Belgrade, MT) drove in 4 runs and scored 4 runs after getting 2 hits. Adrie Mortensen (C - Rexburg, ID) had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. Megan Brownson (3B - Billings, MT) had 2 hits as well. 

Rylie Schlepp (Helena, MT) got the start in the circle and pitched 2 innings (H, 2 SO) and Rylynn Krein (Fergus Falls, MT) pitched the final 3 innings (2 H, 4 BB, 5 SO).

Brooke Richardson (1B - Helena, MT) cracked the 1st Pioneer home run of the season.

  • The Pioneers had 21 hits to just 3 for Bottineau.
  • Bottineau pitchers walked 16 Pioneer batters.
  • MCC pitchers walked 4 and struck out 7.
  • MCC had 4 doubles and a home run.

Next up for MCC is a trip to Nebraska to play North Platte on Feb. 22-23 followed by games on Feb. 24-25 at Western Nebraska.
