Game 1 - Pioneers 15... Williston State 3 (5 Innings)
It did not take long for the Pioneer softball team to establish command of doubleheader on Saturday in Williston, ND. MCC got 4 runs in the 1st inning and kept rolling from there in a 15-3 route of the Tetons in 5 innings.
SS Sierra John (Idaho Falls, ID) led the game off with a single. She advanced to 2nd on a ground out and then LF Liz Ybarra (Belgrade, MT) reached 2nd on an error and John scored on the same error. CF Skylar Higgs (Livingston, MT) was hit by a pitch and 1B Hazel Eaton (Belgrade, MT) singled to load up the bases. With 2 outs, 3B Taylor Feller (Laurel, MT) reached 2nd on an error by the Teton centerfielder that pushed home all 3 runners.
MCC got 3 more runs in the 2nd inning when John walked with one out, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a ground out and scored on a Ybarra single. Higgs then ripped a double and Eaton followed that with a 2 RBI single and a 7-0 Pioneer lead. The Tetons got a run in the bottom of the 2nd but MCC pushed that lead to 10-1 with 3 more runs in the 3rd. Feller led the inning off with a single and 2B Shannon Nelson (Livingston, MT) walked. C HaiLeigh Davis (Shepherd, MT) singled to drive in Feller and Nelson advanced to 2nd. John singled to load the bases and RF Cassidy Bagnell (Frenchtown, MT) singled to score Nelson and keep the bases loaded. Ybarra grounded in to a fielder's choice and Davis scored.
Williston got a run in the 3rd to cut the lead to 10-2 but MCC put the game away with 5 runs in the 5th inning. Nelson led the inning off with a walk and advanced to 2nd on a fielder's choice. John reached 1st on an error and Nelson moved to 3rd. Bagnell followed with an RBI single and Ybarra reached on an error again to load the bases. Higgs poked an RBI single and the score moved to 12-2. Bagnell then scored on a passed ball and the other runners moved up a base setting up a 2 RBI single by Eaton and a 15-2 lead.
WSC scored a late run but the game ended in 5 innings.
Madi Henry (Spanish Fork, UT) pitched 5 innings (3 R, 4 H, 2 SO) and did not walk a batter to get the win.

Game 2 - Pioneers 15... Williston State 2 (5 Innings)
Game 2 was nearly a carbon copy of game one as MCC got 7 runs in the 1st inning and followed it up with 8 more in the 3rd to run away with a 15-2 win and set up a Sunday showdown in Glendive for the conference championship.
WSC scored a run in the top of the 1st but MCC got things going in the bottom of the inning taking advantage of multiple Teton errors to score 7 runs. Sierra John reached base on an error and Cassidy Bagnell walked. Ybarra grounded in to a fielder's choice and John was out advancing to 3rd. Skyler Higgs ripped a double to scored the 1st 2 Pioneer runs. Hazel Eaton singled and Higgs scored seeing Eaton make it to 3rd on a Teton error. C Taylor Feller walked and 3B Morgan Lampshire (Murray, UT) had an RBI single. DP HaiLeigh Davis walked to load the bases and 2B Mars Weaver (Rexburg, ID) whacked a 2 RBI double putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. John reached 1st on another Teton error and Davis scored and the Pioneers could not push in any more runs but took a 7-1 lead.
The Tetons got another run in top of 2nd but MCC put the game away with 8 runs in the 3rd. John walked and with one out Ybarra reached base on another Teton error and John moved to 3rd. Higgs hit an RBI single and Eaton followed with another single to load the bases. Feller reached base on an error that scored Ybarra. Lampshire hit another RBI single to keep the bases loaded. Davis walked in another run for a 11-2 lead. Weaver then cracked her 2nd double of the game to drive in 2 more runs and put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A walk by John loaded the bases again and pinch hitter Alexa Lewis (Bozeman, MT) walked to make the score 14-2. Ybarra reached base on another Teton error scoring Weaver for the final 15-2 count.
Alex Carr earned the win in the circle with a complete game 5 innings (2 R, 4 H, 6 SO). Carr did not walk a Teton batter and hit one.

MCC moved to 19-3 in MonDak Conference play and 32-5 overall. They travel to Glendive today for a 12:00 PM doubleheader and can win the MonDak Conference regular season title with a sweep of the Buccaneers. A Dawson win would give them the regular season title.
